These Standards of Practice have been produced by the authors AAII ANIMAL-ASSISTED INTERVENTION INTERNATIONAL. AAII Standards of Practice. In: AAII Standards of Practice. 2022.under the direction of the Members and the Board of Directors for Animal Assisted Intervention International (AAII) to help and encourage individuals, organizations, institutions, and health and human service providers who are interested in, or are implementing, an animal assisted intervention (AAI) program. The original Standards, dated January 30, 2011 have undergone several revisions with the most recent in December 2018. AAII considers this a living document that will undergo revisions as needed to keep up with the scope of AAI around the world. These standards are a minimum of what is required to conduct an AAI program for Animal Assisted Intervention International (AAII) members. All programs are encouraged to work at levels above the minimum standards and should also meet any standards or regulations that are required by governing bodies for their region and their home organization. There are several standards and members must refer to the standards that are relevant to their work and practice. Please note that this process is based upon the position of the applicant.
