Hipotermia Terapêutica

A Hipotermia Terapêutica melhora a sobrevivência e o neurodesenvolvimento em recém-nascidos com encefalopatia hipóxico-isquêmica (EHI) moderada ou grave. Consiste no resfriamento corpóreo iniciado dentro das 6 primeiras horas de vida, visando uma temperatura central alvo de 33 a 34oC pelo período de 72h.

A Hipotermia Terapêutica é uma terapia eficaz. Os bebês tratados devem atender a critérios de inclusão utilizados em estudos clínicos randomizados e a educação das equipes das unidades neonatais para a identificação de candidatos à hipotermia é ponto crítico.

Utilizar-se da evidência científica e de protocolos previamente estabelecidos é passo fundamental para garantir segurança e eficácia na aplicação de metodologias que visam promoção de qualidade de vida em pacientes de alto risco.
